Sarah Jamieson has avoided weddings since a traumatic stint as a flower girl, but reluctantly agrees to stand up for her best friend. Only why does the best man have to be one of those confident, life-of-the-party types? Even worse, why does the bride make her promise to go on one date with the guy? Easy enough to agree, because she'll make sure he never asks.
Corbin Morrissey takes his responsibilities for Team Groom very seriously, but coaxing smiles out of the maid-of-honor is harder — and more addictive — than he expected. To his surprise, she agrees to go out. There really isn't any way a date to the Fall Fair could go amiss. Is there?
Can Corbin convince Sarah he's ready to settle down and make her the head of her own Team Bride, or will their past keep getting in the way?
"WARNING This book will have you dreaming about fall festivals, apple cider, and leisurely strolls in the autumn leaves."
"The story has many layers and a nice complexity."

Originally posted on Tales to Tide You OverIf you’ve been following my reviews, you’ll know I’ve been enjoying the Riverbend Romance Novella series. My main contention has been to wish for a longer story so I could spend more time with the characters.
In Team Bride, once again, Valerie Comer’s skill at making characters I can connect with shines through. Corbin is both fun and deep at the same time while Sarah does right by her friends even when it means facing her childhood traumas. The novella has a funny, lighthearted tone through much of it, but there are definite dark moments as well.
The story has many layers and a nice complexity that isn’t revealed until later, but there’s enough seeded to make me aware of what was coming. I’ll say no more to avoid spoilers, beyond that it’s a kicker, and thanks to the seeding, I had the horror movie sense of what was coming that really cranked up the tension.
Some of the complexity comes from reading the other novellas like Secretly Yours. You don’t meet Sarah in that one, but Nick and Lindsey’s history is definitely tied into hers while Sarah plays a critical, if background, role in Pinky Promise, making Team Bride much more linked with the previous novellas than any the others.
The complexity isn’t only in the community though. Sarah is a beloved preschool teacher, but she doesn’t have her act together, especially when the topic turns to weddings. This makes it that much harder when her best friend tags her for maid of honor, but she’s determined to do her best.
Corbin is much more than the fun-loving guy everyone sees, but at the same time, he enjoys seeing the lighter side in pretty much everything. He’s nervous, with good reason, about how Sarah will see him, and worried about the impact of meeting his rambunctious family when she’s so self-contained, but he doesn’t let any of that stop him.
There’s much to enjoy, especially in Corbin, but this is my least favorite of the series so far. First of all, Corbin does most of the work in the relationship. While he’s adorable and there are good reasons for this, it makes for less balance in the romance to my mind. Which brings me to the second reason: This is the first time in the series that the inspirational aspects clashed with the story for me. The focus was attaining perfect love with God, which is fine, but the way it all came about, it felt as though Sarah was accepting the reality that Corbin would fail her (like all men fail in her mind) because only God’s love could be perfect. I’m not saying this well, and her need for faith in herself and God’s love is clear and makes sense. It’s only how that character development crosses over into the romance that bothered me.
Ultimately, I like how the story talks about facing your fears and not letting them keep you from trying. This is an important message, especially when Sarah’s issues had solid foundations. The character growth on Sarah’s part is strong, and as I said, I loved the balance between charismatic and lack of confidence in Corbin’s approach to life. Despite being handsome, easy to get along with, and dynamic, Corbin never comes across as arrogant or self-confident to the point of assumption.
If you’re a romance reader first and inspy second, you might have some issues with this novella. If you’re inspy first, it may just hit the perfect note. However, despite the issues, there’s much to enjoy, and I do not regret meeting Corbin.

Team Bride A Christian Romance Riverbend Romance Book 4 edition by Valerie Comer Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
The best man loves weddings, the maid of honor is terrified of them. Exuberant Corbin tries to woo a very reluctant Sarah. She has been hurt by failed relationships in the past and insists he's not her type. He is convinced she's the one he's been waiting for.
All of Riverbend has been so seamlessly intertwined from book to book so although this is clearly about Sarah and Corbin, you also get to catch up with everyone from the first 3 books! This is a wonderful sweet read!
Valerie is one of my favorite authors of sweet Christian romance, and this one is another one by her that I thoroughly enjoyed. It was a delight revisiting the characters from Riverbend and following Sarah and Corbin in their journey to see if things from their past could be overcome in order for them to discover their future. This is another wonderful combination of romance and faith from this author that I definitely recommend. I was given a copy of this book in return for an honest review.
I LOVE Valerie Comer books. They are always entertaining, have a consistent story line, and well written; this story included. This story is about Sarah meeting Corbin and their hits and misses in becoming a couple. There were a few things I really loved about this book 1. These characters are not perfect and this book shows their very real struggles, things I know many of us deal with on a daily basis; and 2. Valerie incorporates her love for organic farming and working the land like God intended - this excites me! While a very short story, you will walk away thinking beyond the story as it gave me something to chew on regarding my relationship with God.
Valerie Comer's Riverbend novellas offer clean, heart-warming romances with a touch of faith. Sarah is bridesmaid for her friend, Lindsey, (AKA TEAM BRIDE). If not for her dear friend, Sarah would have nothing to do with all the wedding preparations. She likes privacy, quiet, and caution. Corbin is head of TEAM GROOM. He is anything but quiet or cautious; the life of the party. Pressured to go on one date, Sarah finds Corbin to not only be handsome, but a gentleman sensitive to her needs. An unexpected event from their past cools the attraction these two have developed for each other. Corbin isn't willing to give up, but can Sarah let the past go and forgive him? Okay...yes he wins his fair lady's heart, afterall this is a romance, but half the fun is finding out how it happens! So fix yourself a cup of hot chocolate, hot tea, or warm apple cider and relax with this cozy novella. WARNING This book will have you dreaming about fall festivals, apple cider, and leisurely strolls in the autumn leaves.
Valerie Comer continues the Riverbend saga with another great story!
When planning a wedding, you pretty much need a team! There's just so much to be done.
And of course, you have to have your best friend standing beside you all the way to the part where you say "I do". Sarah Jamieson would rather avoid weddings, but she can't avoid this one -- and her best friend is determined to make certain she has a good time -- even with arranging a date or her.
Corbin Morrissey is a wonderful guy, but sort of the "opposite" of Sarah. Will she give him a chance? yeah. Will she give herself a chance to fall in love with him? hmm...
I hope so. I really like this couple. And if you'd like to know the answers to these (and other) questions, grab a copy for yourself and check it out. You'll love it!
Happy Reading!
